On July 1, 2008 I am leaving my beloved Fox Hollow for a job as HR director at the district office. While I am excited about the new job I am mourning losing the daily connection with the people I have worked with for so many years. While I was at a conference in April, a few creative souls decorated my office with post it notes. Each post it note was to represent a thought they had of me. I love these people and will miss them dearly.

This year I have had Connor, (6th grade) Tasha, (5th grade) and Darci, (1st grade) as students at my school. I can't begin to describe how much I have loved having them at my school and seeing them every day. I love to do lunch duty just to watch them out of the corner of my eye as they socialize and eat their lunches. I try to show restraint but sometimes it's all I can do not to hug and squeeze them to bits and embarrass them beyond reason. This has been the highlight of my career.

Today I went and watched Darci's 1st grade class put on a end of the year program for their parents. They were so sweet as they sang their songs about friendship and kindness I couldn't help but cry. (And Darci wasn't even there!) Every interaction with kids is more meaningful as I realize it is ending. Where else will I be a celebrity? They wave in the halls, cafeteria, playground, etc. If they see me at the mall, grocery store, dance recital,, etc. it is an absolute thrill for them!I have been called mom, grandma, Bishop, Sister and God by these little people! No gift is greater than to be loved by a child. I have loved being a principal at the elementary level. (The names I am called now are much nicer than some of the ones I was called as a junior high and high school administrator!)

What an honor for you to be thought of by those you associated with at Fox Hollow! It is so awesome you were able to have Connor, Tasha and Darcie attend this school year! I know it will be sad leaving but you will be going to work with some great people at the district office! I wish you much success there! Jobs that are 8-5 rock!(so excited to see another post!
